HISTORY AND INFORMATION ABOUT BEDFORDVIEW
|
Bedfordview is made up of various neighbourhoods:
|
The entire area was originally one farm called Elands Vontyn (later known as Elandsfontein), which belonged to the South African government until it was granted to the Van der Linden family in 1867. Until the discovery of gold,it had stayed in the family for a number of years, even though it was subdivided. When mining efforts proved futile, chunks of land became available for agriculture.
There is a thriving business community in Bedfordview with a number of manufacturing, retail and construction businesses – like Murray & Roberts and Bateman Engineered Technologies – who have their head offices here.
The proximity to the airport, industrial areas and schools, as well as the excellent road network, ensure that Bedfordview remains much in demand, both for business developments and for accommodation.
There are many B&B's, self catering, guest Houses and lodges in Bedfordview, to accommodate both visitors to Johannesburg, tourists and business representatives who need comfortable, safe accommodation in Bedfordview
Many fine restaurants are to be found in Bedfordview, with the emphasis on gracious living, stunning decor and delicious food. |
